This rain gauge is not in the vintage category.....maybe it should be. Ely Greenstone is 2.7 Billion years old --some of the oldest rock on earth.
Facts aside, the rock is beautiful --shades of green, speckles, bands, crystal looking whites, even a bit of red in some of the rocks.
The rocks are about one inch thick and typically 2 to 4 inches across. They sit flat. A hole is drilled to support the copper wrapped glass gauge. The gauges measures 5 inches (over 12 cm) of rain.
